Reliable, feature-filled wireless DMX and dimming for lighting, props, costumes, and scenery.

FOR MAC OS

RC4 Commander Configuration Software:
v3.x New For 2022 with Dark Mode!

RC4 Commander is NOT compatible with RC4 LumenDim or W-DIM systems. For configuration of LumenDim devices, use RDM (remote device management). RC4 Commander works with RC4Magic, RC4Magic-900, and RC5 EASS.

RC4 Commander 3.x is now available for both Mac and PC, featuring the frequently requested DARK MODE!

This software supports RC4Magic Series 2 and Series 3, RC4Magic-900, and RC5 EASS systems. As of v1.2, DEMO mode works without physical devices so you can try before you buy, complete with a sample RC4 Private IDentity™ file and a comprehensive set of virtual devices emulating a range of dimmers and pixel drivers.  Download and try it now!

To use RC4 Commander with your real RC4 hardware, you MUST request an encrypted RC4 Private IDentity™ file.  (NOTE: The file format is NOT the same as used with our older RC4MagicPC software.)  Request your ID file here, and select the first Ticket Type (Request System ID for RC4 Commander). Please include a note telling us what IDs you are looking for to ensure efficiency of delivery.

Legacy (obsolete) v1.0 RC4 Series 3 CodeLoader for PC

The original v1.0 CodeLoader software was never available for Mac OS, but it works well on a Mac running Windows in Parallels or with Bootcamp.  There should not be a need to use this old program.  Use RC4CodeLoader v2.0 (see above).

RC4MagicPC Configuration Software:

RC4MagicPC is NOT compatible with RC4 LumenDim or W-DIM systems.

This software is obsolete and is no longer supported.  It is not being updated to recognize new firmware features.  It is useful only when working with very old RC4Magic Series 2 devices (circa 2006 – 2009) that have not been updated to the final release version of firmware.  If you are not using legacy equipment, use RC4 Commander (see above).

For RC4Magic Series 2 Users with Firmware Older than 3.0xx:

The first time you use RC4MagicPC, the software must learn your unique and private RC4 System IDs.  This process is demonstrated in a video listed above.

RC4Magic-900 Users:

** Rather than using RC4MagicPC with RC4Magic-900, please update the firmware in your devices and switch to using RC4 Commander.  All you need to update the firmware is an RC4 CodeLoader cable and our CodeLoader app (see above). **

USB Drivers for all RC4 Devices
(Dongles, CodeLoader cables, etc.)

All RC4 devices with USB connectors use interface technology by FTDI, the industry leader in USB connectivity worldwide.

All common operating systems include FTDI drivers natively, making it unnecessary — when everything is working as it should — for you to download and install drivers manually.

Nonetheless, things happen. It’s not our fault.  :)

If your system is not recognizing your RC4 dongle, CodeLoader cable, or other RC4 device with a USB connection, try downloading and installing the FTDI drivers manually. Get the most current drivers directly from the manufacturer:

FTDI VCP (Virtual Com Port) USB Driver Downloads Page

* NOTE: If you are running Mac OS with Parallels or other virtual machine platform, be sure the RC4 device is assigned to the system that needs it. For example, if you are running RC4 Commander for Mac OS, be sure the CodeLoader cable isn’t connected to Windows in Parallels. *

RC4 Series 3 Harmonized Design Firmware Update Files:

New RC4 Series 3-2022 Firmware is now available! Updates are compatible with all Series 3 Harmonized Design hardware, all the way back to first release in Aug 2014.
The zip files below contain firmware for ALL devices in each product family. You MUST CodeLoad the correct file for the device you are updating. Loading the wrong file will NOT brick the device, it will simply not operate as expected. In many cases rapid and continuous LED flashing indicates an incorrect firmware file. Repeat the CodeLoader process using the correct file.

An RC4 CodeLoader cable or equivalent is REQUIRED to upload firmware to Series 3 devices.
Purchase a CodeLoader cable.

Video tutorials showing how to upload all our devices are provided on our RC4 YouTube Channel.
Always restore defaults after updating firmware.
Failure to do so may result in unexpected behavior.

RC4Magic (2.4GHz)

New AUTO_RF firmware automatically detects if the hardware is RC4Magic (2.4GHz), RC4Magic-900 (900MHz), or RC5 EASS (900MHz).  The same files are now provided for all three of these systems.

NOTE: Some DMXio button functions have changed: we have removed the function for setting low and high DMX channel limits. Feel free to submit a support ticket if you would like a new label for the bottom of your device.

The first two digits of the device serial number are an internal code for the device type, and it has changed with the newest firmware stream.  This is related to how the same firmware is now used for RC4Magic, Magic-900 and RC5 EASS with the code detecting the hardware it is running on.

! NEW June 2022 v127 Release !
Extensive performance improvements, including enhanced RDM support.
Six-channel dimmers include new DMX profiles (personalities) similar to those offered by Arri and KinoFlo, with CCT and magenta/green point.

NOTE: After loading v118 firmware (or later), the device may enter a test mode with the yellow DMX indicator solidly lit and no other indicators on. The green COP indicator will blink different patterns when you press each button. Cycle the power off and on to exit this mode.  It should not appear again.  If it does, contact RC4 support

If you updated LumenRadio TiMo firmware to 1.2.0.0 in an RC4 LumenDim device, and now the blue RF indicator is blinking slowly forever, or CRMX2 does not work, you MUST revert back to version 1.1.0.1. LumenRadio has been notified of this issue and they are working to correct it. Version 1.2.0.0 does not provide any useful advantages for RC4 LumenDim devices. Version 1.1.0.1 is fully compatible with CRMX2 when using a Stardust with up to 8 universes of DMX.
